Up and Coming

Hello Redwood’s Fans!

How has your week been? Here– finally a short break from the bitterly cold wind with a few days of sunshine. I can feel spring coming but I know some of you are dreading a big melt-off with concern for flooding. It seems there is no winning this winter! Praying your basements stay dry.

For you this week it’s all about those very helpful lungs and what happens when they become injured or perhaps the wrong, non-diseased one is taken out in the OR. This is why I LOVE author questions so much. It’s really fascinating what people have lived through.

Tuesday: Author question about pulmonary contusions which is a good injury to give a character after something like a car accident because it has a wide range of possible outcomes depending on the extent of the injury.

Thursday: A very personal author’s question about a family incident that happened in the 1950s when her uncle had surgery and the wrong lung was taken out. How do these surgical errors happen?

ALL the books of the Bloodline Trilogy have been on sale for $1.99 each and this will be ending soon (March 3rd I believe) so scoop those stories up. Proof just received its 100th five star review!

Keep in mind that over at my Facebook author page we’re doing the 12 months of Christmas by going through The Complete Book of Questions and each month I’ll be doing a give away and you’re entered just by answering!

Was honored to be on Giovanni Gilati’s Scoop— an fun interview about what’s in store next for my writing and just what I think of my adult ER counterparts (and I can say– I used to work adult ER!)

Hope you guys have a great week!

Hello Redwood’s Fans!

Well, we are mostly recovered here from our winter colds and seriously hoping for Spring to return– except perhaps my husband who is the skier in the family and the last one suffering from whatever respiratory virus invaded our home.

What’s your favorite season? I actually don’t mind winter unless I have to be out in it. And even then it’s okay unless it is completely FREEZING like today. I am ready for spring.

This week I’m focusing on author questions. First one deals with injuries from smacking a villain in the face and the other deals with amnesia.

Also, the Bloodline Trilogy is one sale on Amazon for Kindle at $1.99 a piece! Definitely a good time to pick them up.

Also, we’re doing the 12 Days of Christmas all year long over at my FB author page. You are automatically entered for that month’s drawing just by answering the posted questions. Hope you’ll join us.

Have a great week,

Jordyn

Up and Coming

Hello Redwood’s Fans!

Awww— this week includes Valentine’s Day. What special plans do you have? Do you have any traditions you’d like to share?

Sometimes, sharing the love means sharing a laugh so I’m linking to this post by fellow author and friend, Mike Dellosso, who is a physical therapist. In this post he discloses some patients confusion over medical terminology. Mike’s books are great if you ever have a chance to check them out. They are not really medical thrillers but great suspense tales nonetheless.

For you this week:

Tuesday: Concluding my three-part series on The Psychology of Dexter.

Thursday: At times, I’ll do a little public service post and this one is timely due to all the brutally cold weather people are having. Evidently, in some areas, people are running out of propane and turning to space heaters for warmth and this has led to an increase in fires. You can read some recent stories here and here. Thursday will be space heater safety tips– stay warm but stay safe.

Hello Redwood’s Fans!

How has your week been? Mine– not too much remarkable this week. Just developing a new medical trilogy and my mind is spinning in circles with plots.

So, because I don’t have much to share I thought I’d share this video with you that is way up on the cuteness scale. A man singing puppies to sleep. It is stinkin’ adorable.

For you this week.

I’m beginning a three-part series on the non-fiction book The Psychology of Dexter which includes several essays from mental health types about the show. Very interesting stuff.

Hope you’re having a great time!

Up and Coming

Hello Redwood’s Fans!

How has your week been? Mine– seemingly never-endingly busy. I just wanted to include as many ing words as I could for you editor types.

Over at my author page we’re going through The Complete Book of Questions and you’ll have a chance to win special prizes every month just by stopping by and answering a few. It’s been great fun so far and I look forward to getting to know you better– quirks and all.

For you this week:

Tuesday: My acupuncture experience. We all know I’m a western medicine girl– obviously. So this was an unusual experience for me to try. It is amazing to me how by checking my pulse and looking at my tongue you can determine that I slept poorly but evidently you can. You can find out all about my broken branches and bad leaves.

Thursday: I’m beginning a three-part medical series on a non-fiction book I read called The Psychology of Dexter— yes, that Dexter. First installment deals with childhood PTSD.

Have a great week!

What’s up Redwood Fans?

Are you officially out of your Christmas Coma?

I hope so because we are back to the usual medical mayhem and I have an interesting week coming up for you.

Tuesday: What is the value of a single life? One father’s tale of how he viewed his daughter with Down Syndrome before and after her birth.

Thursday: Dr. Richard Mabry stops by to discuss tonsillectomies. I’m doing this in prep for my analysis of the Jahi McMath case– which is the girl who suffered brain death after a tonsillectomy. Richard has a new book coming in the next few months, Critical Condition, which I happily endorsed. I hope you’ll pre-order now.

Also, over at my FB author page I’m going through the Complete Book of Questions this year. Who says you only need to celebrate gift giving in December? If you participate in answering the questions, you’ll be eligible for my monthly book drawing and other fun stuff.

Have a great week!

Up and Coming

Personally, I feel like I’m just coming out of my Christmas coma and am excited to get back to the medical mayhem. Plus, there is the haze of marijauna smoke in Colorado adding to laziness. And no, I don’t partake. I’d never consider it. Just seen too much damage wrought on families from abuse of legal and illegal substances.

But that’s a post for another day . . .

So– how are you? How was your Christmas? What’s the best gift you got? Me? I was supposed to work Christmas Day and was put on call and NEVER had to go in. So, I ended up getting to spend the day with my family which was awesome.

My favorite part of Christmas is going to the Christmas Eve service at our church. It never really feels like Christmas until that happens.

What about you? What gets you into the Christmas spirit?

For you this week . . .

Tuesday: Forensic specialist Amory Cannon is back to discuss just what the Body Farm is. And yes, it does exist.

Thursday: A book review of The Profiler by Pat Brown. Very interesting book and I’ll give my take.

Hope you are coming out of your Christmas Coma as well.

The Last of the Funny Videos!

This is the last of the funny video group.

In case you wondered– I am a dog lover. Not so much cats. So, I’m with the dogs on this one. And no wonder they won’t walk by when those pesky cats claw and hiss at them when they do!

Enjoy and we’ll be back to the medical mayhem shortly.

Hope you are having GREAT holidays.

Jordyn

Merry Christmas!

This post begins my annual two week Christmas break from the usual medical mayhem where I post fun, interesting videos for you to enjoy.

My hope for you is that you find meaning this Christmas– not in gifts but in people and relationships.

Many Blessings,

Jordyn

Up and Coming

By now, everyone should be in the throes of at least thinking about Christmas shopping. Tell me, what’s on your list? I’m curious to know.

For Tuesday I’m wrapping up my medical critique of the CBS drama Hostages episode 8. I’m sure there will be more but perhaps they’ll take a Christmas break and hire a medical consultant– I hope so.

On Thursday I’ll be handling an author question related to electrocution.

Have a GREAT week.
