Up and Coming

Hello Redwood’s Fans!

How has your week been? Mine . . . still mired in Peril’s edits but they should be DONE by Friday which will be very good news.

I’m also hoping that the snow is gone for good for this winter. Colorado has been unwilling to let Jack Frost go home but we hope he’s escaped so the flowers can bloom.

For you this week:

Monday: Author Christine Lewry shares her personal experience of being diagnosed with breast cancer.

Wednesday and Friday: Author and double Christy Award nominee Jocelyn Green returns to discuss opium abuse during the Civil War.

Hope you all have a great week.

Up and Coming

Hello Redwood’s Fans!

You’re going to have to forgive any grammatical areas as I’m likely brain fried from editing ALL week and running my first 5K. Really, keep the liquor locked up. I have to stay bright eyed until at least May 20th. Then . . . well, who knows!

Congratulations goes to Patti Shene for winning a copy of Dr. Mabry’s Stress Test!!

For you this week:

Monday: Dianna Benson stops in for another fictional (though medically accurate) first person account of taking care of someone who has been involved in a MVC. I love the way she writes these posts as not only are they really informational but educational as well.

Wednesday and Friday: So pleased to host author and double Christy Award finalist, Jocelyn Green, who is talking about the medical research involved with her latest novel, Widow of Gettysburg. She’s also offering a chance to win this amazing book so check out her posts for further information.

Have a great week.

Back to editing.

Someone. Send. Help.

How are you Redwood’s Fans?

Me…hmmm… other than surviving a freakish April snow storm… doing well.

For you this week!

Two of my inspirational medical colleagues are releasing books here in the next couple of weeks and will be visiting Redwood’s. Dr. Richard Mabry will be giving away a chance to win his latest novel, Stress Test.

Don’t worry– I’ll have Candace back after her book releases and we’ll see if I can talk her into giving away a book.

For you this week:

Monday: Dr. Richard Mabry and a chance to win Stress Test. This novel has been getting a lot of early praise and I’m super pumped to be able to get my hands on it!

Wednesday: Author and anesthesiologist H.S. Clarke stops by to talk about the good and the bad surrounding epidurals.

Friday: Candace Calvert scrubs in with a medical question and it’s a very interesting one. In fact, one of my favorite author questions thus far.

Have a GREAT week.

Hello Redwood’s Fans!

How has your week been? Mine— ohh— I got assigned an editor and will start editing Peril this month. It is due to release in October. A nice scary read for autumn.

As some of you know, I am a real life pediatric ER nurse. Sadly, part of my job is recognition of child abuse injuries. April is Child Abuse Awareness month and this weeks series of posts will deal with the most devastating of child abuse injuries and that is Shaken Baby Syndrome.

And please, if you suspect a child is being injured– please notify someone who can help.

Have a great week.

Up and Coming

Hello Redwood’s Fans!

I usually post the Up and Coming segments on Sunday’s but in light of the forthcoming Easter holiday I’ve decided to post it on Saturday.

I hope you have a wonderful celebration with family. One of my favorite posts I’ve ever written was about Easter and what it means to me. Hopefully it can bless you as you consider the true meaning of the day.

For you this week:

I’m continuing with author questions!

Monday: Car accident with multiple victims.

Wednesday: Homemade IV solutions. Is it possible?

Friday: Death by Food Allergy.

Have a GREAT Easter.

Hello Redwood’s Fans!

Are you enjoying spring? This is how we enjoy spring in Colorado. I know . . . you’re jealous, right? It is sooo chilly!

Currently, I’m still doing some blog tours for the release of Poison. Here are two opportunities you have to try and win it.

1. Heather Day Gilbert’s blog. She’s doing an interview and a giveaway that ends March 27th.

2. Elaine Stock’s blog Everyone’s Story. Here I share a little bit about what keeps me on this crazy writing journey in the absence of a James Patterson type paycheck. Hopefully it will encourage you as well. Drawing ends March 29th.

For you this week! I’m focusing on author questions which is always great fun for me.

Monday: Paying medical bills. I know . . . what joy!

Wednesday: Consent issues in the pediatric ER.

Forensic Friday
: Condition of a body found in water.

I hope you’ll tune in for these fabulous posts and drop by those blogs to try to win Poison!

Up and Coming

Hey Redwood’s Fans!

What are you up to this week?

Me– still working on that darn book proposal. I have read some very concerning things– oh, say– like the government (US gov.) experimenting on US citizens and that’s no conspiracy theory. I’ll be blogging about that in the future.

What’s up in your life?

For you this week:

Monday and Wednesday: ICU nurse Lisa Forest drops in to share a first hand account of how her nursing tenaciousness saved the life of a woman and her daughter. Very interesting posts and great insight into the work that nurses do every day.

Forensic Friday: We continue Kenny’s death investigation. This series is already proving to be very popular so don’t miss out on Garry’s post.

Have a GREAT week.

Hello Redwood’s Fans!

How has your week been. Me— working on a new book proposal. Anyone know of any great medical mysteries? It’s pretty sad when I’m reading and am familiar with most. I want something unusual and preferably genetically fatal– so if you have any ideas . . .

On top of that– I need a setting. Any setting. I like creepy houses but I don’t think it’s a good setting for a trilogy– being confined to one place either. So– what’s your favorite setting?

For you this week:

Monday: Author/EMS expert Dianna Benson is back to give a first hand account of cardiac arrest in the field.

Wednesday: Firefighter/Paramedic Tim Casey shares some of his patients’ experiences with near death.

Forensic Friday: Garry Rodgers is back starting a multi-part series on a true life death investigation. These posts are fascinating and I know you’ll enjoy.

Have a great week.

Hello Redwood’s Fans!

How’s your week been? Mine– good. Not as crazy in the ER as it has been recently and that’s good for everyone.

If you like my blog and are a writer– I know you’ll love this talk. I’ll be speaking at the Tattered Cover Bookstore at Highlands Ranch Town Center (Highlands Ranch, CO 80129) Monday, March 4th from 7:00pm-9:00pm. Hope to see you there. Topic will be Medical Mayhem: How to injure, maim, and kill your FICTIONAL characters correctly.

For you this week:

Monday and Wednesday: I am super-excited (yes UBER- excited) to do these posts. Jeannie Campbell and I decided to do a little blog crossover. If you haven’t checked out Jeannie Campbell’s blog– it is a must for writers everywhere. She does what I do only on the psychological side. Her blog is called The Character Therapist and you can find it here. Jeannie will be blogging about serial killers (warning signs and common types) and I’ll be blogging about medical conditions that present like psychiatric ones.

A lot of medical mayhem to be had. Hope you enjoy the posts!

Friday: In celebration of March being Autoimmune Disease Awareness Month, Stacey Thureen does some education on thyroid disease– did you know there was one that is also an autoimmune disease?

Great week here at Redwood’s. Hope you have a fabulous one, too.

Up and Coming

Hello Redwood’s Fans!

How has your week been?

Mine– excellent. Poison launch is going well and I was ecstatic to get this STARRED review from Library Journal.

“Verdict: As intricately plotted and compelling as the first book in the trilogy (Proof),this psychological thriller will keep readers perched on the edge of their seats A must read for fans of Lis Wiehl and Frank Peretti. Jordyn Redwood’s Poison is a terrifying journey of darkness, possession, and survival.”

And– the Kindle version is now available.

What new suspense books are you reading and enjoying?

I just finished Andrew Klavan’s A Killer in the Wind. I’d noticed he’d won a couple of prominent awards so was interested to see what his novels were like. This one did not disappoint so if you’re looking for a new read on the ABA side– check out this author’s book.

For you this week: It’s author question week!

Monday: Help! I need a medical condition.

Wednesday: Medical Power of Attorney.

Friday: Death by Trophy. Is it possible?

Hope you all have a fantastic week.
